I mentioned in an earlier post that summer has arrived in London. I realize this sounds like a grotesquely hollow claim - ‘London’ and ‘summer’ has to be an oxymoron too far - and as far as I’ve gathered, this is only a temporary abbreviation from the norm of rain, wind and clouds. Either way, the temperatures really have been hovering around thirty degrees the last few days and SO HELP ME GOD WAS I GOING TO ENJOY THAT.

I decided to accompany a good friend from SOAS up north to the green and exotic plains of Hampstead Heath yesterday. It’s almost like a piece of countryside within the city, and it offers tranquil views from the top of Parliament Hill. I’ve got photographic evidence of the voyage, too! Bread, cheese and fruit on a hot summer day in London. ‘twas lovely.
